Apoquel is a medication used to treat allergic dermatitis in dogs who are at least 12 months of age. It works by targeting a specific inflammatory pathway in the body to reduce itching and inflammation. It is a relatively new drug and is considered to be very effective at managing itch in dogs with minimal side effects compared to older medications such as steroids. Common side effects include vomiting and diarrhea, and in rare cases, serious infections can occur.
